In 1929, while on a business trip to America, Harry Stiles - the Managing Director of Messrs L C Smith & Corona Typewriters Ltd - was introduced to an Executives Association. These had started some 13 years earlier, typically for breakfast meetings, to do business or pass leads to potential business. Harry brought this idea back with him, and told his business friends about it. On 12th March 1930, the following, with Harry Stiles, formed a company called "the Executives Association of Great Britain".
